INTEGRATED EDUCATION & TRAINING (IET) CLASSES

Integrated education and training (IET) refers to contextualized english as a second Language (ESL) or Basic skills classes that prepare english language learners to succeed in a specific career technical class (CTE). Career Technical education classes are available for all students. IET classes are specialized esL classes to help prepare language learners for eligibility to enroll in CTE courses. esL students in intermediate High and advance levels are eligible.

The course content focuses on specific occupational vocabulary and terms, work related tasks, safety procedures and problem solving. This class introduces students to speaking, listening, reading and writing skills necessary for effective communication in the workplace.

English for Healthcare Aid

An introduction to skills necessary for an entry level personal care attendant position. The class will prepare students with communicative language, expressions and basic directives on how to assist patients and their families in the home or assisted living environment. Class topics include: care attendant skill building, preventing incidents, nutrition, elder patient challenges and interfacing with family members.

All Students must register at the Green Valley Center, Institute of Language and Culture or the Santa Cruz Center prior to entering class

English Learners (EL):
Students will learn to speak, listen, read and write English in classes from beginning through advanced levels. Classes focus on interactive student activities that provide the opportunity to practice English for everyday situations, such as jobs, parenting, consumer activities, etc.
 
New Students: Students will need to complete the registration packet and provide their full name, date of birth, address and phone number and take a placement test.
Continuing Students: Please bring your student profile form the first day of class and complete the registration packet.
Inglés Como Segundo Idioma (EL):
 
Los estudiantes aprenderán a hablar, leer y escribir en inglés en clases de nivel principiante hasta avanzado. Las clases son en un ambiente educativo y divertido, que se enfoca en actividades interactivas para que el estudiante tenga la oportunidad de practicar el idioma inglés para usarlo en situaciones de la vida diaria, como en el trabajo, con la familia e hijos e ir de compras.
 
Nuevos Estudiantes: Deben llenar el paquete de registración y proveer su nombre completo, fecha de nacimiento, dirección y número de teléfono y tomar una prueba.
